I think this is what I’ve been searching for. The only problem I am having is with the “Tutorial: Building Settings Pages”, when I add the code to my functions.php I get the following error message on my site – Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<' in /home/brandfct/public_html/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php on line 612

      Any ideas?

      @mpodboreski-

Can you post a code snippet or a link to one? Please include the code in the functions file and the code in the settings file.

      Thanks,

      Kevin

      Thanks Kevin!

I followed the step by step found here. http://piklist.com/tutorials/building-settings-pages/

I did not try anything beyond it.

Below is my functions.php It only happens when the snippet in the turorial is added.

      [CODE SNIPPET HAS BEEN REMOVED]

@mpodboreski– Congratulations, you found our first bug! And a typo in our tutorial…

We just pushed an updated version to WordPress.org, so please update the plugin. And then try the new code snippet on the tutorial.

Let us know how it works.

Great Steve, I was racking my brain. I am a newb with this stuff. So I may be your first case study, lol.

Okay, that problem has been fixed. I successfully created a theme settings page, however the page does not show the options we created in the demo-settings.php

      It appears like this:

      Theme Settings
      Save Changes

      No Options in between. Ideas?

@mpodboreski– Is the field code in your FUNCTIONS.PHP file, or did you place it in your piklist/settings/ folder? You can see the full folder structure here.

It’s in the demo-setting.php file we created to be placed inside the setting folders.

@mpodboreski– Please change your Piklist folder/file structure to:
      /piklist/parts/settings/demo-setting.php

You need to include the “parts” subfolder. I just updated our documentation to reflect this.

I am still getting the same results. I am also running wordpress mu. Would this cause conflict?

Just for curiosity I click the save changes button and get this message – ERROR: options page not found.

@mpodboreski– It shouldn’t matter. I tested on a Mulitisite setup. Would you mind giving us temporary Admin and FTP access so we can take a look?

You can email us here: http://piklist.com/contact/

@mpodboreski– It seems like the WordPress.org update was incomplete. I deleted the plugin and reinstalled it.

      It’s working now. All good!

Let us know if you need anymore help… and please provide feedback so we can make Piklist better.

All good now. Thanks a lot! I am not sure how to improve piklist as I am still investigating. My first goal is to integrate a contact management system for my clients and customers.

Your support and help was awesome. Keep up the great work.

I am not sure how you guys are making money on this project, but a donate button on your site wouldn’t hurt.

@mpodboreski– Thank for the kind words. We will be offering a Contact Manager in the (hopefully near) future. You can definitely build it today with Piklist, but our solution will be out-of-the-box.

We really appreciate the offer to donate, but right now we just want you to use it and provide feedback.
