Hi, I have been using and loving piklist for the past few months, but there are a few useful things I have read about here that are supposedly coming in the next version, and I was wondering if there is any timetable for that version and what changes it will contain? Thanks again for this incredible product.

Hi Again. In the absence of any info about next release, is there at least a source repo we could look at for what has already been changed, and make the comparisons ourselves? It would be very helpful to at least get a sense of changes already made. Or if I am understanding the license for the software, would it make sense to fork it on a public github server so that others could contribute and make changes? I’m sorry to pester about this, but I have built a rather complicated project on top of it, and before deciding whether to continue using Piklist (on this and other projects) I need to get a sense if this product is EOL or in active development. I would be happy to pay a small fee for the product, and maybe you could put a donation button on your site to fund further development, I am sure many people would be happy to pay if it assured the product was moving forward. Anyway, thanks for listening.

I spotted this from back in 2016 — it sounds like the intention is/was to keep it in active development but it would be very reassuring to see some sign of life!

I’d definitely be willing to spend a decent amount of money ($200-400) or so annually to be able to use Piklist if it was moved forward. Right now unfortunately a lot of the bugs that I’ve run into have made me think about switching to ACF for upcoming projects — which i really don’t want to do given how exponentially better Piklist is. Really hope that you guys aren’t done and happy to put my money where my mouth is if you’re not done.

yes, i too am starting to feel concerned about the activity from Piklist.
It is a great product, but the ‘silence’ is making me a bit worried now.I hope that ANY sound is given soon.
IF they cancel it, too bad, but at least we know then(gosh, sounds like a relationship almost… “tell me!!! i need to know” )

I share all of these thoughts/concerns. Given that the core development team’s personal businesses revolve around Piklist, I felt comfortable integrating it with my personal and client projects. But it sure has been a while since there’s been any movement with the project. I’m hoping that this is just due to Piklist already being mostly matured and the devs find it suits all of their needs fine for the time being.
We’re just getting a little nervous is all.

Hi @everyone, I had the same question and: Piklist will continue and is still in active development.
I shared your concerns regarding the silence because I am planning to develop some new projects with Piklist.
So I wrote directly to the Piklist team to ask about the status. I got a really quick response with the answer that they are using Piklist in their day to day business too. – The project is still under active development and they are working to make the version 1.0 happen as soon as possible.So the silence is a little bit confusing but it seems nothing to worry about when it comes to the continuation of this great plugin.
I guess they are so caught up in their projects and the development that there is no time left for the forum or social media activities.

Steveb, I can see you’re an active member of github (ie I can see your commits here: https://github.com/sbruner).
And Piklist has this, but it’s a non-event: https://github.com/piklist
A github repo, from which 3rd parties could fork, and then make pull requests to get small improvements and bug fixes added, would be a great start (yes it would attract issues as well, but I’d see that as secondary).
There is enthusiasm, and some skill here in the community that you can tap into. There is also a lot of buy-in for the framework from developers who are now starting to get nervous, as features break with WordPress core changes, with no ETA on fixes (shortcodes, I’m looking at you).
Other things like incompatibility with W3TC caching also come to mind; they have the net effect of sapping confidence.
You don’t have to do it all alone, and it feels in the last 6 months at least, that you’ve been struggling to do so. Let the community help!

Hi All– Sorry, for the communication breakdown. Really, REALLY, sorry. We’ve always valued our users, and not responding quickly was just not fair.
We plan on releasing an update next week. It’s not going to be the next major version of Piklist, but it should take care of most of the bugs you’ve reported.
I will also write a blog post next week letting you know what’s been going on, but please, rest assured that Piklist is not dead. Kevin and I use it EVERY DAY for our regular client work.

Great news about the new repository and it seem to have regain some activity. I have discover PikList 3-4 weeks ago and really liked what I saw but the low activity and lack of repository made me forget about it. Now, I’m decided to give PikList a real chance and hopefully it will go well.
P.S. Sorry for possible bad english, not my primary language… (One time warning)

@bicho44– We are finishing it up for beta release, but it’s taking longer than expected… it’s been a pretty crazy year. Also, want to update the docs since there are a lot of amazing new changes that we want you to be aware of.
We understand that this upgrade has taking a while, and we have clients that we would like to get on Gutenberg as well.
